Information about Health Commission

The purpose of the Health Commission is to provide an opportunity to feed into the consultation on the future of Acute Hospital Services in Worcestershire which is being carried out by the three Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) in the county in January/March 2017.

The Health Commission will provide elected Councillors with a chance to consult with representatives of relevant health bodies about proposed changes to acute services.  In particular, representatives from Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust and Redditch and Bromsgrove CCG have been invited to discuss their proposals at its first meeting.  This meeting will be open to the public to observe.

A key purpose of the Health Commission is to provide an opportunity for local residents to express their views in respect of the future of acute hospital services.  Residents are therefore being invited to give their views at the second meeting of the Health Commission or in writing.  The Save the Alex campaign will also be invited to give their views.

All evidence gathered during these sessions will be collated and recorded in a report which will be presented for the consideration of full Council at a meeting on 2nd March 2017.  The Council will determine what recommendations, if any, to make to the CCGs during their consultation.  Full Council meetings are open to the public to observe.

It should be noted that Redditch Borough Council has no power over the outcomes of the consultation process or the future of acute hospital services in Worcestershire.
