Petition to Introduce a One-Way Traffic System on St George’s Road, Redditch
We, the undersigned residents, visitors and road users, respectfully ask Worcestershire County Council to carry out a traffic assessment and consider introducing a one-way traffic system on St George’s Road, Redditch.
St George’s Road regularly experiences severe traffic congestion because vehicles are travelling in both directions while cars are parked on both sides of the road. This often creates bottlenecks where only one vehicle can pass at a time, leading to long queues, frustration and unnecessary delays.
The current road layout also raises several safety concerns:
* Vehicles frequently have to reverse or mount the kerb to allow
others to pass.
* Visibility is reduced because of parked vehicles, making it more
difficult for drivers to see pedestrians and cyclists.
* Emergency vehicles, refuse lorries and delivery vehicles can
struggle to access the road during busy periods.
* Residents often find it difficult to park near their homes
because of congestion and limited available spaces.
A one-way traffic system would help improve traffic flow, reduce congestion, increase road safety and make access easier for residents, visitors and emergency services.
We ask Worcestershire County Council to:
* Carry out a formal traffic and parking assessment.
* Consult local residents on introducing a one-way traffic
system.
* Review parking arrangements alongside any proposed changes to
maximise safety and access.
We believe these measures would significantly improve the quality of life for residents and create a safer, more efficient road for everyone who uses St George’s Road..
