Delivering New Affordable Housing

To consider options to increase the number of affordable homes in the Borough.

Decision type: Key

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Wards affected: (All Wards);

Notice of proposed decision first published: 02/10/2013

This decision will be taken under urgency procedures.

Reason for urgency:
It has become apparent, in discussions between Officers and Members over proposals for increasing the number of affordable homes within the Borough, that there is time-limited grant funding available to the Council should the decision be taken to become a syndicated partner for a Mortgage Rescue Scheme. Furthermore, there are a number of households within the Borough who are in immediate need of such assistance.

In the light of this, Members have agreed that this report should be fast-tracked in order that the Council can take up this opportunity on behalf of eligible households as quickly as possible.

Anticipated restriction: Part exempt  - View reasons

Explanation of anticipated restriction:
An appendix to the Draft Delivering New Affordable Housing Report contains a list of possible sites for Affordable Housing Development including a number which have not been declared surplus. Disclosure of this information might impact on the financial affairs of residents of properties in close proximity to such sites.
