This decision will be taken under urgency procedures.

Reason for urgency:
Responsibility for appointing the Neighbourhood Board Chair rests with the Council and the Member of Parliament. Following their appointment, the Chair will oversee recruitment to the Board which will take time to organise. The completed Board membership must be submitted to MHCLG by 17th July 2026. To delay making a decision until the next Executive Committee meeting in June would provide insufficient time to organise this recruitment process effectively.

As the lead officer has been in post for only three weeks, there has not previously been sufficient opportunity for Officers to seek authority to undertake this work or to give notice on the Executive Committee’s Work Programme.

Therefore, it would be impracticable to postpone this key decision, which needs to be made without having given 28 days’ notice.
